Another Chance Animal Rescue, Inc. (doing business as Second Chance Rescue) is a Florida 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  We take in abused, abandoned, neglected and unwanted animals and provide them with necessary medical care and rehabilitation until they can be placed into loving forever homes.  We have no paid staff and are funded solely on donations which are 100% tax deductible.

Our organization is headquartered in Bunnell, Florida, and has a dedicated network of volunteer foster homes in North Central Florida.  Debi Root, our President, oversees the operations at the sanctuary in Bunnell.  Jody Heflin, our Western Region Coordinator, leads the team of foster families in the Alachua/Marion/Levy County area.

SCR rescues from "high kill" shelters that euthanize a large number of animals.  Many animals arrive in need of significant medical care due to neglect or time spent as a stray; some animals have been confiscated by animal services as part of hoarding cases.  Our primary focus is dogs, but we do have a few cats and other farm animals in our care…  At any single point in time, Second Chance Rescue is usually providing care to 100+ animals.

Our dogs are all examined, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and receive medical treatment before they are posted for adoption.  Adoptable animals have profiles posted on AdoptaPet.com and/or PetFinder.com and are in the care of a foster home until a forever-family is found.  This can sometimes be a long process and our foster parents work hard to ensure that the animals receive loving care as long as it takes.  All dogs receive monthly flea and heartworm prevention and are fed a high-quality dog food.  Animals that have unique social or medical needs may be placed with a long-term medical foster or in sanctuary care.

Donating is more than just money or time...It's peace of mind. Now you can even help the smallest animal.
